The OE Chlorine Shower Filter contains a reversible filter cartridge that will filter the shower water for one year. (One year is based on a family of 4 each taking a 10 minute shower every day. The filter will last more or less time depending on the situation in your household.)
The filter is a KDF high purity alloy which eliminates contaminants from water by utilizing electrochemical oxidation reduction. The chemical properties of KDF include its ability to kill algae and fungi, control bacterial growth, remove chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, iron, lead, cadmium, aluminum, mercury, arsenic and other inorganic compounds. KDF meets EPA and FDA standards regarding trace amounts of zinc and copper ions in water, and provides a much longer performance life than Carbon Filters. Also, unlike carbon filters, KDF filters are recyclable after they are full, whereas carbon filters are considered hazderous waste.
